TDC Leader is Airport Boss’s Whore

Well, there we have it: Buchanan snaps his fat fingers and Bayford instantly drops his trousers and bends over. Using special aviation logic, Buchanan explains that the airport will shut if it can’t have night flights and that 3,000 jobs will be lost. In fact of course if the airport shuts its 100 or so staff will lose their jobs; the 3,000 is a completely fictitious number dreamed up to frighten ignorant and foolish councillors. In fact once the airport, a millstone around Ramsgate’s neck, has been got rid of it leaves the town free to flourish in many ways: as a tourist destination, as a home for all the new people employed at the Discovery park, and as a destination for new businesses who would like to be able to talk to their customers and employ staff who sleep at night. The airport has only ever employed a handful of people, it has always lost colossal amounts of money and has held Ramsgate back in all of the ways just mentioned. Infratil has always maintained that the airport will create thousands of jobs and TDC Tories have always swallowed the lie completely unquestioningly even in the face of the observed facts: no jobs, no money, pollution, noise and danger from knackered old crates wheezing in from Africa with their precious cargo of not-quite-off ready-sliced fruit. The strategy employed by TDC Tories in this as in other cases is that if it doesn’t work you should do it some more.
